Inspired by the playwright's youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, with all the attendant comic drama as the harried writing staff frantically scrambles to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman "Max Prince".

What to bring: Headshot and Resume. Each performer will be asked to read sides for the show. It is suggested that each performer have a solid understanding of the play and it's characters as they may be asked to read for multiple roles.

About the Director: Donald Jordan

As a 35 year veteran of professional theater in North America (having performed in all the "lower 48" states and throughout Canada) Don Jordan has enjoyed a multifaceted career. This theatrical "Jack-of-all-trades" has served variously as an Artistic Director, director, stage manager, scene & properties designer, scenic painter, production manager, technical director, actor and stand-up comic. Performing Credits include touring in leading roles with the national, international and California companies of the Broadway hit 42ND STREET, and Off-Broadway in Circle Rep's OUT AT SEA, as well as work at many of the nation's most respected regional theaters, including the Addison Theatre Center, Atlanta's Alliance/ACT, City Rep in Oklahoma, Casa Manana, Dallas Rep, Dallas Theater Center, Florida's Golden Apple Theater, New York's famed Gateway Playhouse, Kansas City's TYA Theater, Lyric Stage of Texas, Lyric Theater of Oklahoma, the Mule Barn Theater of Mo., Music Theatre of Wichita, Stage West, and many more.

Among the hundreds of artists Don has worked with are many award recipients and nominees, including TONY winners; director Adrian Hall, director Grover Dale, director /choreographer Chet Walker, director/choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler and designers Eugene Lee and Natasha Katz.. Additional TONY, OSCAR, and EMMY recipients and nominees Don has collaborated with include Kristin Chenowith, Susan Egan, Lainie Kazan, Ron Raines, Lara Teeter, Paul Winfield, Debra Winger and Liam Neeson, Steve Martin, CITY REP's own resident director Michael Jones, director Robert Benedetti, designer Tina Miller and many others. Don has also appeared with Frankie Valli, as well as Henny Youngman and The Beach Boys during his hilarious forays into Stand-up comedy. For 30 years, Don has been a proud member of Actors Equity Association, and was honored to serve his theatrical community as an elected representative for more than a decade.

Don has also been recognized for his outstanding commitment and interest in young adult artists and children and has worked and taught at many leading children's theaters, including the Atlanta Children's Theater, Dallas Children's Theater, Wichita Children's Theater, Seem To Be Players of Kansas, Theater for Young America, Kansas City, Mo. among many others.

Serving as CITY REP's Founding Artistic Director, Don oversee's all aspects of the theater's operations. His credits here include scenic designs/co-designs for I AM A TEACHER; DRIVING MISS DAISY; YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN; DIRTY BLONDE; BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS; THE BIG BANG; BAD DATES; THE FANTASTICKS; THE MISER; THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE; THE 39 STEPS; A TUNA CHRISTMAS, GREATER TUNA: and MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS and NOVEMBER, both of which he also directed.

Onstage appearances for CITY REP include Max in LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, Jack Jerome in BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, THE OKLAHOMA CITY PROJECT, Doc Gibbs in OUR TOWN, the constable in THE MISER, the Spartan Herald in LYSISTRATA, Thurston, etc in both A TUNA CHRISTMAS and GREATER TUNA and Adolph Freitag in THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO.

Under his artistic leadership, CITY REP was recognized by ACTORS' EQUITY for the theatre's "dedication to excellence and professionalism", the first theater in the history of the state of Oklahoma to be so honored. CITY REP is a member theater in TCG (the THEATRE COMMUNICTIONS GROUP) the national association of leading regional theatres. CITY REP is the first theater in Oklahoma City history to be accepted as a member of TCG.

In 2011, Don was honored to receive an Oklahoma GOVERNOR'S ARTS Award. This commendation is the highest form of recognition given for the Arts in Oklahoma. This lifetime achievement award was presented in recognition of his "Artistic leadership and community service."

In September of 2012, The American Theatre Wing awarded CITY REP a National Theater Award grant, again, the first time a theater in Oklahoma was so honored.

Don is a proud alum of Oklahoma City University (class of 1980) with a BA in Theater. While at OCU he was recognized with the Bronze Letzeiser medal, graduating third in his class, the B.D. Eddy award for theater, the excellence in Children's theater award and 5 acting citations from Alpha Psi Omega, the national Dramatic fraternity.

In November of 2012, he was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni of Oklahoma City University. On April 5, 2013 he was one of the inaugural inductees into the OCU School of Theater's Hall of Honor, along with his friend and fellow co-founder of CITY REP, Jonathan Beck Reed.

He holds an MFA in theater from Trinity University's professional theater training program, again graduating in the top 10 in his class.
